What the ƒµ¢ʞ Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Starting my Masters in the fall. Part time, no biggie. Time to pick a course for the first semester.

Reading through course descriptions,

1) This course will start with brief reviews...Fourier transform (yeah, I've heard of him). After these preparations we will discuss...using the example of Lorenz Equation (him too)...followed by detailed analysis of ...and the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (um?). From there we proceed to...Orr-Sommerfeld  equation (who now?), Rayleigh's theorem (phew, I know that one)  and Fjortoft's theorem (Ok, now they're just making shit up)...

I'll put this one on the maybe-next-year list.

2) ...experimental techniques such Hot and Cold Wire Anemometry...

Anemometry...I know this one...give me a minute...An - e - mom - e - try...ok Google.

Oh yeah, wind! Anemometers measure wind speed. Duh, totally remembered that.

3) Advanced topics in fluid mechanics. Basic continuum mechanics, analysis of the stress...

You mean the stress caused by this course?

Ok, Kate, relax. You can do this. You're excited about this, remember? And you do have an engineering degree after all.

From 2004. So that's...twelve years.

Is that how long it's been?

It's all good. Calculus is just like riding a bike.

Yeah, I'm doomed.

  1. Oh that's amazing congrats!! You'll be just fine, I'm sure of it!! Maybe a few growing pains in the beginning but you'll pick this stuff right back up :-) You got this!

  2. Thanks. Mostly I'm excited. I just have my moments of shear panic ;)

  3. Oh gosh, memories of my mba classes. I'm so glad they're over! Good luck!!
